Salgirah — Privacy Policy

Salgirah is a birthday reminder app for families, made by an independent developer. This policy describes exactly what the app stores and why. The short version: your family's birthday data belongs to you, it is used only to show you the app's own features, and it is never sold, shared with advertisers, or used for analytics.

What we collect

• Account: when you sign in with Apple, we receive your name (if you share it) and your email address or Apple's private relay address. This creates your account and profile.
• Birthday entries you add: a person's name, birthday, and any optional details you choose to enter — photo, relationship label, notes, an adjusted Misri date, and a private nickname.
• Your settings: reminder preferences and circle memberships.

We collect nothing else. There are no analytics SDKs, no advertising SDKs, and no trackers of any kind in the app.

Contacts access

If you use the contact import feature, Salgirah reads your contacts' names, photos, nicknames and birthdays on your device only, so you can pick which ones to add. Only the entries you explicitly choose to import are saved. Your address book itself is never uploaded.

Where your data lives

Entries and your profile are stored with our database provider, Supabase, on servers in the United States, and cached on your device so the app works offline. Photos you attach are currently stored on your device only. All connections use TLS encryption, and database access rules ensure each account can only ever read its own data and the circles it belongs to.

Sharing — circles

Nothing you add is visible to anyone else unless you place it in a circle. Circles are invite-only: there is no user search or discovery anywhere in the app. Entries you save into a circle are visible to that circle's members. Your private nickname for a person, your notes visibility settings, and your reminder preferences are never shared — other members only see the entry's full name and dates.

Notifications

Birthday reminders are scheduled locally on your device. We do not send push notifications from a server.

Data retention and deletion

You can delete individual entries at any time, and you can delete your entire account from Settings inside the app. Account deletion permanently removes your profile, your personal entries, your nicknames and your preferences. Entries you contributed to a shared circle remain with that circle and pass to the circle's admin — the people you shared them with keep what you shared.

Children

Salgirah is intended for adults managing their family's birthdays. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date above will be updated. Material changes will be called out in the app's release notes.
